And the CityServe team of volunteers hope more people will jump on board to help transform a much loved Shellharbour sporting field.

CityServe’s first project for 2016 is to clean up and beautify Ron Costello Oval.

On May 14from 8am the CityServe team and Shellharbour Council along with members of the Shellharbour Sharks RLFC will be working together to transform the much loved sporting field.

CityServe Shellharbour is a church based group that formed in 2014 and has been working in collaboration with Shellharbour City Council to improve public spaces and facilities in the city.

The project rapidly expanded in 2015 to include over 22 different churches across Shellharbour as well as various community groups including hundreds of volunteers across the city.

Pastor Shane Cook said the CityServe initiative is a ‘’unique collaborative’’ initiativeof Church, council, business and community.

‘’More importantly we have all achieved some astounding results in the process,’’ pastor Cook said.

‘’Seven local facilities including one local residence have been transformed through the generous work of the CityServe team of volunteers.

‘’Over the 2015 period more than 500 volunteers donated thousands of hours of volunteer labour which equates to over $75,000 worth of in kind support.’’

Pastor Cook said the CityServe team were looking to do even more in 2016, starting with giving some love and attention to Ron Costello Oval.
