A PORT Stephens business owner has pleaded guilty to indecently and sexually assaulting his step-daughter on a number of occasions during a five-year period.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared via audio visual link in Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a person under the age of 16, aggravated sexual intercourse and aggravated sexual assault.
He was committed for sentence to Newcastle District Court on May 5.
The incidents occurred between 2009, when the victimwas 11, and 2014, court documents state.
The girl told a teacher at her school in 2015 and her step-father was arrested.
He has been in custody since being refused bail in Raymond Terrace Local Court in December last year.
According to anagreed statement of facts, the man touched his step-daughter inappropriately in her bed in December of 2009.
Prior to that he had become increasingly affectionate towards her and would touch her breasts and buttocks when he hugged her.
Between December,2010, when the girl was 13, and December, 2012, the man digitally penetrated his step-daughter after giving her a massage, court documents state.
On another occasion in February, 2014, the man rubbed his penis on the girl’s back during a massagebefore digitally penetrating her.
After the massage, the man said goodnight before placing his penis on top of his step-daughter’s palm and moving it back and forth for about 30 seconds, court documents state.
All sexually inappropriate activity ceasedin September, 2014, court documents stated.
But about a year later,after an argument with her sister, the girl confided to a teacher at her school that she had been “molested” by her step-father.
The police were called and the girl made a statement.
“The incidents of digital penetration and inappropriate touching by the accused upon the complainant as outlinedin the above offenceswere not isolated incidents,” according to the agreed statement of facts.
