Stewart had the better of her clash with Golden Square’s Julie Ross, winning 25-7.

She will be joined in the semi-finals by Geelong’s Nicole Shortis, Dromana’s Sandra McColgan and Koroit’s Kellie Bowles.

Shortis caused an upset earlier in the day when she defeated women’s champion of champions title winner Carla Krizanic.

Stewart will play McColgan at 9.30am Thursday.

UPDATE 3.18pm: Congratulations to City of Echuca bowler Philip Thorn, crowned Bowls Victoria men’s singles champion.

Thorn scored an epic 25-24 victory over Gippsland’s Matthew Higgins in a tense final at East Bendigo Bowling Club.

He scored four wins en-route to the championship, including a quarter final win against Bendigo’s Aaron Wilson, who was representing Northern Gateway region.

Thorn was trailing 6-11 in the final, but mounted a great comeback to win the championship by the barest of margins.

Certainly an entertaining day’s bowling at East Bendigo.
