It’s been a decade sinceSussexPanthers third grade have formed a team andjust eight weeks ago these men started talking about getting it together and training.

The previousweekthey travelled to Gerringong for their first game, a convoy of spectators fromSussexfollowed to cheer on their boys. It was a 22-all draw, a great start to their season.

Saturday’swin against last season’s premiers was well deserved.

“These men trained their way to this win, their defence won them the game,”coach Steve Bettington said.

SussexInlet Rugby League Club has come a long way since being devastated by the floods last year, the club lost training equipment, goal post paddings, freezers, fridges the whole lot.

After a lot of hard work , fund-raising and community support SussexInlet Panthers are up and running with a great season ahead of us.

We have grown from 36 junior players last year to 72 junior registered players this year plus a team of 30 registered 3rd grade men.

Without the support of sponsors we wouldn’t be where we are today.

SussexPanthers 3rd Grade play against Culburra at Crookhaven on Sunday, May 1,2pm.

Next home game is at Finkernagel Oval is on Saturday,May 7, 2pm.

Everyone is welcome, we have a great canteen with lots to choose from.

Thankyouto theSussexInlet community for supporting our club.
