“It might be seen that I have this agenda on people who are overweight or people who are deemed fat,” Bridges said on Monday night’s Australian Story.

“If you are happy where you are, genuinely, more power to you. But I can tell you now, I am yet to have met someone who is morbidly obese and happy.”

Former Biggest Loser host Ajay Rochester accused Bridges of being “fat-phobic” and said Bridges bullied her for being overweight while filming the show.

“I won’t even go into the fat jokes and taunts she subjected me to on a daily basis,” Rochester said in a blog blasting Bridges for her comments.

In a segment on Channel 7’s Daily Edition, Bridges was shown footage of herself walking behind a Biggest Loser contestant as they crawled along the ground.

“Now you can start getting angry ’bout those Mars bars, honey,” Bridges taunts in the clip from 2007.

“How dare she have to feel like she has to humiliate me to work harder,” the contestant, Munnalita, says afterwards.

Others have also spoken out about Bridges’ apparent fat-shaming.

“Hi, Michelle, if you are listening, remember me? I’ve known you for years. We have met many, many times. You can take it back now. I’m happy,” said Nova radio presenter Chrissie Swan.

“You should not judge someone’s entire character by what they look like … Every fat person is not sad or trying to change themselves or jovial.”

Comedian Meshel Laurie also took aim, noting Bridges is “in the business of meeting people who have come to her because they are unhappy”.

The KIIS 101.1 presenter also told a story about her young son asking about her weight.

“He said to me, ‘Mummy, you’re fat.’ I said, ‘Yeah … and that’s OK. I’m really happy. I’m a really happy person.’ I meant it from the absolute pit of my soul,” she said.

“I’m such a lucky person. I’ve got two arms that work, two legs that work. A brain that’s sharp.

“It is actually possible to be fat and happy, I promise you.”

Reps for Bridges told Fairfax Bridges is currently on holiday and unavailable for comment.
