“With so much doom and gloom in the world, I just want people to come to the show, have a good time, forget about everything for a few hours and let their hair down,” he said.
Written and recorded at his own bar at home, Mr Harvey said the tour featured a replica of his bar and even had the same bar stools.
Unlike traditional tours with a support act and set lists, Mr Harvey will bring something completely different this time around.
“This time it’ll just be me singing for a few hours with the band,” he said.
“There will be no set list of songs, and we’ll be taking requests.
“We’ve even got people on stage for a dance.”
Mr Harvey said he had definitely been kept on his toes with some song requests.
“It’s just a whole lot of fun,” Mr Harvey said of the tour.
“I just hope to give audiences an idea of what it’s like having a sing-along in my bar.”
The tour won’t finish until about mid-August, but Mr Harvey said he had really enjoyed the tour so far.
“It’s been heaps of fun. We’re all really enjoying it,” he said.
“Country music fans are so loyal. They stick by you.”
After the tour wraps up Mr Harvey said he would try and get into the studio by Christmas time to record another album.
“I’m so lucky I get to do what I love,” he said.
The Harvey’s Bar… the Backyard Sessions tour will play at Dubbo on Saturday, May 14 at the Dubbo RSL Memorial Club.
