BUSSELTON superheros Rocco Watson and Jett Dixon are national finalists in the Super Kid Awards and have been recognised for making a difference in the community by doing a good thing.

Last year, Rocco rode his bike from Dunsborough to the Busselton Hospital to raise money for the hospice where his grandfather was a patient at the time.

Rocco’s mum Susan said he was accompanied by his dad and they did the journey dressed as Batman and the Green Lantern.

“In the space of a month, Rocco managed to raise over $2000 and although his Poppy has now passed away, he was so proud of what he achieved in his honour,” she said.

Jett’s mum Melanie Dixon said a child in her son’s class was being picked on and had no friends.

“So my son befriended him and organised a play date at home all by himself,” she said.

“It melted my heart to see him being so compassionate towards others,”

The Good Guys Busselton store is sponsoring the awards and general manager Lisa English said she was proud to recognise and celebrate super kids within the community.

“The Super Kid Awards program honours children who show super hero qualities in their daily lives, making them a role model for their friends, family and local communities,” she said.

“I was truly inspired by Jett and Rocco, and my team and I all have our fingers crossed that they take out the national Super Kid Award title.”

From the finalists across Australia, two national winners will be chosen by an independent judging panel.

The winners will each receive $10,000 from The Good Guys to support their educational growth and development.

A Super School Award will also be granted which will see an Australian primary school receiving $10,000 to develop their specialist program focusing on education and well-being.
