Bulldogs too strong for Nowra Albatross

The NAFC took on last year’s division one premiers last week. Brendon Barnes was called into the side for his first run in division one since he broke his leg.

Dayne Johnston was called up from division two and Lachy Holmes for the first time this season run out onto the field as well.

Brad Barnes, Damo Wallace and Jayden Cook played their first senior game this season.

The first quarter was quick and the Bulldogs got the jump on us early. A couple of goals to the Bulldogs and it looked like we were in for a long day.

But Marco and Greeny had other ideas as they gathered the guys and with some hard no nonsense football managed to get the game back on even terms.

But the damage had been done and the Bulldogs went into the first break with a lead.

The second quarter saw the NAFC pile the pressure on Bulldogs and it showed as their normally silky skills were starting to fall apart.

The third and fourth quarters were an arm wrestle with the Bulldogs out scoring the NAFC by 10 points. Although the boys didn’t win, they are starting to gel nicely.

Only one division will play this week (first division vs Bomaderry, West Street oval, Friday at 6.30pm).

The NAFC division two side took on a very well drilled Bulldogs. With 26 players out across the club and about 15 changes from round twoit was always going to be a tough day for the boys but they never gave up.

Captain Brad Clark is out with a broken finger and vice captain Brad Barnes had a last minute call up to division one.

Therefore Brett Kelly was nominated by the coach and Clarky to lead the side out. His experience was great for the younger lads.
